Madeleine Greenlee

My partner and I are both avid sailors and always eager to learn more and spend as much time on the water as possible. Though our working schedules do not regularly allows for WAGS, we are keen for weekend races and long haul trips, races, and deliveries.

I grew up sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, USA. In the states I crewed regularly for a Cal 40 and a Rhodes 41, competing in regattas on the Tred Avon River/ Chesapeake Bay and also completing a number of ocean deliveries up and down the East Coast. Since moving to Australia I have sailed for the UQ Sailing team on Hobie Cats, sailed casually at RQYS in WAGS, and done a delivery up the East Coast on a 40' catamaran.

Markus Kauhanen

I am looking for a boat from Australia to New Zealand. Details below:

Hi, my name is Markus Kauhanen and I'm form Finland. Over the last 2,5 years I have been riding my bicycle, mostly alone, through 3 continents and 31 countries, covering 40 000 kilometers.

I am looking for a boat from Australian East cost to anywhere in New Zealand. My current visa expires on the 15th of June. Currently I am staying in Toowoomba and the easiest location would be Brisbane, but I don't mind departing from somewhere else.

I'm not experienced in sailing, but learn quickly and have hard-working mentality. I'm ready to help on the boat as much as I can doing a night watch, cooking, cleaning etc. Any kind of boat is fine, a sailing boat, a cargo ship, no matter. I can cover my own living costs.

Something about the trip:

Originally I planned to cycle only for six months in Europe, but ended up to extend my trip to New Zealand. I have done the trip for the sake of the adventure, to challenge myself and to inspire people to achieve their dreams.

As not prepared for such a long journey I have been financing my trip with my blog, sleeping in a tent and cooking my own food on a camping stove. I have pushed myself hard through mountains and deserts, getting woken up by a boar in Croatia, getting arrested in Iran, and crossing a desert and sleeping outside in the temperature of -15 Celsius in China after a storm destroyed my tent.

After a journey like this flying would be such a boring way to finish this. What would be the moment when I could say "I did it"? The moment when the plane gets into New Zealand's air space? The moment when it lands? The moment when my passport is stamped?

The reason why I don't want to fly is that I don't have the money to cycle through NZ and so have to start working as soon as possible. My final challenge and dream is to finish this trip by a boat.

If you want to know more about the trip or me, don't hesitate to contact me. You can also have a look to my Facebook page called "To New Zealand by bicycle".

You can contact to my Australian phone number: 047 391 6805, or to my WhatsApp number: +358 44 362 5045, or email: markus.s.kauhanen@gmail.com

Thank you very much
Best regards Markus
