Dedication & Naming of the Greg Cavill Beacon

Program of Events:
10am to 10:30am – Arrival at RQYS Canaipa
10:30am to 11am – Dedication & Naming Ceremony
including Presentation of Plaque to the Cavill Family
11am to 11:30am – Light refreshments
11:30am to 12 noon – Cavill Family & Official Guests to proceed to Greg Cavill Beacon and return
Function concludes
Members and Guests are invited to stay and enjoy a BYO Lunch
Bar Service will be in operation until 1 pm

The following instructions will assist If you are coming to RQYS Canaipa for the dedication via car and ferry:
- catch the Russell Island ferry at Redland Bay (Weinam Creek terminal);
- ring the Russell Island taxi service on the number given before departing Redland Bay to order a maxi road taxi on the Island;
- the maxi taxi can take 10 people at $10 per head to and from Canaipa (Return ticket);
- the taxi service will run a shuttle service until all of the guests are at RQ (and then back to the ferry terminal at the conclusion).

We have also attached the submission to MSQ seeking approval to have a beacon in Moreton Bay named in Greg’s memory together with testimonials supporting the submission. Greg had an enormous impact on not only the Squadron but the Bay and especially Moreton Island. We are sure you will find this interesting reading. Click here to read the submission
