We invite you to join special guest speaker and solo world sailor and adventurer Banu Oney for an amazing presentation called “Still, I Sail: Beyond the Trade Winds – Med to Moreton Bay”.

Dr. Banu Öney is a Turkish sailor and lifelong maritime voyager whose connection to the sea began in childhood. For more than twenty years, she has lived continuously aboard her boats, sailing extensively across the Marmara Sea, the Aegean, and the Eastern Mediterranean, before expanding her voyages to the Red Sea, the Western Mediterranean, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Caribbean.

In later years, together with her husband, New Zealand boatbuilder Peter Saggers, she explored less-travelled routes through the Great Lakes, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, the U.S. West Coast, and the South Pacific—passages that present unique navigational, climatic, and logistical challenges.

In this Topic Talk, Dr. Öney shares practical insights, lessons learned, and memorable experiences from these voyages aboard her yachts DENIZE, DENIZE II, and DENIZE III, offering fellow sailors inspiration and firsthand knowledge from routes beyond the usual cruising grounds.
