Hi Everyone,

Moreton Bay once again provided the goods last Saturday with blue skies, warm temperatures and light breezes.  The glamour weather had everybody out on the bay with big VXOne, Hobie and Finn fleets, along with a 7 boat Etchells fleet.

Race 1 had most of the fleet heading to the left of the track with Cameron Pryce and the crew on Ethcycoo PArk edging out The Front Bar to be first to the top mark.  The Front Bar claimed the lead on the run and managed to hold onto it to claim the win. Rapscallion had a solid run to the finish, edging out the team on Ethcycoo PArk to claim 2nd place. Marty and the crew on The Saint rounded out the top four.

Between races it was a unanimous decision to kick BGR off the helm of The Front Bar so champion laser sailor Mara Stransky could show us how it’s done. The call came to tack back towards the line, whereupon our pro helm asked “So do I push it?!”  Mara claims we took her question totally out of context, nevertheless, we spent the rest of the race calling for push-turns and pull-turns!!

Race 2 again saw most of the fleet headed to the left of the track with some tricky conditions at the top of the course.  Rapscallion had a run-in with a Hobie, Ethcycoo PArk was spotted doing circles for the second time and Jason (Knot Easy) was apparently not impressed with Mara’s decision to dump on him!

It turns out that push-turns and pull-turns are the way to go with Mara taking the win in her first race on the helm on an Etchells – Congrats Mara!  The crew on Knot Easy came in a close second with The Project and The Saint rounding out the top four.

The Front Bar is taking a few weeks away from the Northern Course to watch some footy and compete in a few yacht regattas – see you on the Bay again soon!

Cheers,
Emily Scott (Master Tactician)
