Team RQ doing the Squadron proud at Sail Melbourne!

Sailing Academy update from our Head Coach, Adrian Finglas

Amazing to see Team RQ doing the Squadron proud at Sail Melbourne

From our Juniors who raced at the front all week in the 4.7 Fleet Wilbur on fire 🔥 Molly Blair and Ruby all showing their skills in tough conditions. The team show cased how are juniors are racing at the front on a National Level , Wilbur and Molly taking 3 race wins during the regatta.

Our ILCA 6 fleet had Youth to Masters make the Long road trip south.

A huge effort from all involved so cool to see all our RQYS team racing at the front of the fleet all week congrats to Dan, Hugo, Mara, Frances , Zane,Chase,Caterina

Our ILCA 7 fleet had Isaac flying the Banner solo we can’t wait till some of our juniors make the jump up to support him in the next 18 months.

Also flying Solo our 470 Team Brayden and Ashley Daunt sailed well and just missed the podium we will see the 470 flying the Squadron Colours next week in Sail Sydney

The Strong IQ Foil fleet doing battle with Olympic Silver medalist Grae Morris , Rory pushing the Olympic Silver Medalist all week with nine second place finishes on his score card Amazing foiling. Our Foil fleet at RQYS is one of the strongest in the Nation with Scotty , Jared and Niamh flying the board across the crazy Melbourne 🌊 waves.

Our ILCA fleets are so strong at RQYS as we still raced the Metros over the weekend back home at the club congrats to all our local fleet , also a special mention to the VXOne fleet that snapped up a bunch of our juniors off the rigging lawn to race the VXOne state titles. Will Cullen jumped last minute from the ILCA fleet to VX one winning first Junior , we think Will is now a convert. The VX one fleet is becoming the place to get fast furious action, and the fleet is embracing Youth.

Another story inside the VX fleet was super keen Mum Emma Masters sailing upfront trimming the Spinnaker all weekend to perfection , racing against her young Son Ollie who also jumped fleets and into the VXOne searching for that speed.
