Fellow members,

RQYS has a number of tax friendly pathways through the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) which allow you to support the Squadron and our sport. As the end of the financial year (EOFY) approaches, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to one of these pathways.

The ASF holds Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status which means that donations made through their online portal of $2 or more are tax deductible. The Foundation will then provide you with a tax receipt for the money or value contributed, so that you can benefit and claim tax deductions for your support.

RQYS has established five ASF Donate to Sport projects:

The Wyuna Support Fund (DONATE)

This fund facilitates the development of skilled, high performing and dedicated Junior and Youth sailors. This is achieved through financial assistance that allows our sailors to compete at National and International levels and through the provision of resources and equipment (such as vessels) that provide additional participation pathways to further develop skills and experience.

The fund is named for Olympian John Cuneo’s Gold Medal winning Dragon class Yacht: Wyuna. Wyuna Sailors epitomize fundamental values of sailing such as good sportsmanship, and they are required to at all times be positive role models both on and off the water.

We’re pleased to inform members that they can make financial contributions to this fund, or they can donate relevant vessels or other sailing equipment – such as sails, foils, spars etc – which you will receive a tax receipt for the value of your contribution as determined by a prescribed valuation process.

The John Harrison Olympic Support Fund (DONATE)

This fund is for the financial support of Olympic level and Olympic aspirant Sailors who are making attempts to qualify for and compete at the Olympic Games.

The RQYS Gym Project (DONATE)

With the growing emphasis on fitness and good health in our community, the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron sees the need to develop a facility to assist sailors and members in the area of physical health and well-being. The Squadron is seeking funds to help with this project with the specific purpose of purchasing equipment as required, as well as developing an appropriate space.

The RQYS Marine Radio Manly VZ4RQ Expansion Project (DONATE)

Marine Radio Manly VZ4RQ (MRM) operates from the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron as a volunteer marine radio and safety service to all members of the Moreton Bay boating community. MRM is seeking support to expand its resources and ultimately provide an more comprehensive radio monitoring service.

The RQYS History & Memorabilia Project

The Squadron is seeking monetary donations to fund the purchasing, restoration, and display of documents and artifacts that are significant to the Squadron’s history. Members are also invited to donate their own valuable memorabilia and receive a tax receipt for the value of the item as determined by a prescribed valuation process.

For more information on any of the above projects, or if you have preference on how you would prefer to contribute to the sport of sailing and / or the Squadron please contact 3396 8666 or email publications@rqys.com.au

As the EOFY approaches I ask that you consider a tax deductible donation to the Squadron via the Australian Sports Foundation

Safe Boating,

MG
