A great mix of social boaties gathered at Canaipa Point last weekend to celebrate Australia Day at our beautiful, exclusive island retreat.

12 power boats and 13 sailing boats delivered 66 people to relax with a bit of fun competition to keep them all entertained, between the swimming and Bar-be-que-ing.

Power Cruise Captains for the event Deb Coghlan and Jan Ralph, along with Sail Cruise Captains Dean and Sally Johns, put on a fantastic agenda of laughs and entertainment with a programme of cricket, thong-throwing, heads and tails and tug-o-war.

The cricket was won by the Power Cruising team with a convincing score of Power 77 to Sail 34.

The Thong Throwing Longest Distance was won by the Sail men (longest individual throw was 41.10m, with the combined top 5 scores for Sail 164.82 & Power 146.12) and the Power women (longest throw was 21.18m, with the combined top 5 scores for Power 90.98 and Sail 89.46).

The Thong Throwing Closest to the Bucket was won by the Power men (closest individual throw 5cm, with the combined top 5 scores for Power of 65 and Sail 140) and the Power women (closest individual throw 5cm, with the combined top 5 scores for Power of 221 and Sail 287).

Heads and Tails was won by Sail 2 with Power 1.

This year we only had a mixed Tug-a-War of 4 men & 4 women, best of 3. Sail was too strong and won 2 in a row, making it Sail 2 – Power 0.

With all the scores added up it was a Draw, so it was decided as Sail had the Overall Trophy from the last event, they got to retain the Trophy!
