Please read all of the below information so you are informed and can assist in keeping yourself and your community safe.

Greater Brisbane has entered a 3 day lockdown which commenced 5 p.m. yesterday, Monday 29th March. In a practical sense for sport, recreation and fitness organisations, this means that during the lock down period (in the Greater Brisbane area):

  • Organised community sport, recreation and fitness is not permitted.
  • Social sporting-based activities – limited to two people outdoors with physical distancing observed eg golf, tennis is permitted.
  • Boot camps and personal training – limited to two people outdoors with physical distancing observed.
  • Professional sport/elite sport/elite athletes – training and trials may occur without spectators with physical distancing observed to the extent possible eg Olympic trials, training is permitted.

In summary, until 5 p.m. Thursday 1 April, people in the local government areas of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Redlands and Logan will be required to stay at home except for essential reasons.

People across Queensland must carry a face mask at all times which must be worn in indoor spaces (apart from when undertaking strenuous exercise). It is strongly recommended you wear a mask when outdoors if you are unable to stay more than 1.5m distance from other people, such as busy walkways and thoroughfares.

Anyone who has been in the Greater Brisbane area on or since 20 March 2021 must also follow the restrictions detailed at the above link. Those leaving the Greater Brisbane area during this time may do so for essential reasons or to return home, but must also remain at their residence and limit their movements until the lockdown period has ended.

Can I use my boat for recreational purposes in greater Brisbane?
Boat owners are permitted to use their boats for essential reasons only. This includes for fishing, shopping, travel to and from work, or to attend permitted appointments.

Boaties must stay within their local area, and social distancing rules apply, at the boat ramp and on your boat. Boaties should only be with one other person, or with family from the same household.

Queenslanders in the affected areas may use their sailing vessels for exercise or for Social sporting-based activities – limited to two people outdoors with physical distancing observed.

 

Are all community sports cancelled?
Yes. All community sports will be cancelled for the duration of the lockdown period. Social sporting-based activities are limited to two people outdoors, with physical distancing observed.
