Etchells Report: Saturday, 20 June: As I saw It (& remembered It)
June 24, 2026
As I saw (and remembered) it – Saturday 20th June
Saturday night saw the RQ Etchells fleet host the 2026 edition of their fleet dinner and Yome awards. Unfortunately a few members were unable to attend as they are current globetrotting while a slow Bundaberg race prevented the attendance of some others. Those that did attend had a great night.
The frivolities started with the coronation of the fleet King and Queen (Dave & Sue Healey) in recognition of their RQYS Club Person(s) Of The Year awarded several weeks ago.
With Patto and Bradley MC-ing the event it was always going to be interesting. Chris was duly recognised for his famous mushroom sauce while The Saint had their top mark antics acknowledged.
Waterloo Too received an oversized protest burgee as a reminder to fly a protest flag if you are going to protest.
Our fleet artist Jason was presented with a new paint set and according to Patto, he is available for commissioned works though Jason wasn’t so sure!!
Fleet new comers Happy Hour acquired some safety equipment for their top mark activities though it’s possible everyone else needs the hard hats and fenders.
With The Saint crew likely to defect to the VX mob based at the back of the parking area next season, they were presented with suitcases along with a club map and signs so they can find their way back home once sanity prevails.
Will was reminded that you can’t trust the internet after his magic google sunglasses told him that the tide on the bay was ebbing when it was actually flooding!
And finally Patto and the rest of us were reminded that: ‘Admit it – life without Bradley would be boring’
Thanks to Patto, Brad and everyone else who put together a great evening.
