Myora Cup Navigation event was held on the 7th and 8th of March in overcast conditions and prevailing winds from the southeast reaching 15 knots. 22 vessels participated in the annual navigation competition. For those unaware, this event is divided into two divisions, Tradition and GPS and the spread between the two divisions was 12 and 10 vessels, respectively.
The event started in the Rainbow Channel 2nm north of Myora Light, heading south past Dunwich, down to Blaksley anchorage and finished as vessels approached the Eric Early light. The fleet then continued to Canaipa for Commodores drinks ashore and dinner provided by the Cruising and Navigation committee and cook by members for approximately 80 people in the wonderful facilities of the Canaipa Longhouse. It was great to meet the new caretakers of Canaipa, Peter and Erica Sorensen who are settling in extremely well.
Sunday morning, the committee and volunteers cooked breakfast for approximately 90 people followed by announcement of results.
The length of both the Traditional and GPS courses was 13.13nm, GPS had 30 check point gates and Traditional had 8 gates.

A very big thanks to our sponsors, Trymax Marine Electronics, Gold Coast City Marina, Oakley wines and the Yacht Sales Company. Without their generous support these events wouldn’t be so successfully. Also, thanks to the Cruising and Navigation committee and volunteers for their assistance.
