The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron enjoyed another successful year in 2017/2018, with consistent growth in our membership, historic best-ever levels in member acquisition and retention, and a positive trend of members transferring to on-water and / or full categories. These conversion trends demonstrate that the Squadron is fundamentally committed to supporting our members through their sailing journey — from discovery to becoming a champion — and our commitment to facilitating on-water participation through a diversity of pathways.
Our Sailing Academy has also seen consistent growth in enrolments, as well as a diversification of program offerings. The introduction of new on-water, combination on-shore/on-water, and community engagement initiatives in this year have consolidated our Academy’s value to the sailing and soon-to-be sailing communities.
These successes have been underpinned by the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive RQYS Strategic Plan. This is the 2018 iteration of the Strategic Plan, which been developed by the Squadron’s General Committee to identify and leverage key priority areas (or pillars) and to ensure the sustainability of our Squadron for the next 134 years.
The General Committee has revised and approved the Squadron Strategic Plan. The below link will take you to the plan, if you would like a printed copy they are available from Reception.
The Strategic Plan continues to promote the Pillars of: Participation and Engagement; Sustainability and Growth; Member Value and World Class Facilities.
