Front Carpark

The fence between the visitor carpark and the dinghy hardstand has been replaced with a palisade fence to improve both the security and aesthetics of the property. This is another stage of our improvement around the Squadron this year. As you are aware, we have installed additional barbed wire around the perimeter to enhance the security of the area. Unfortunately, we have had to spend money on this type of projects, but the intruders have forced our hand to complete this work.

Marina Incident

Monday, 8th September, there was a significant incident in the marina that involved a non-authorised contractor working on a member’s vessel. The incident involved a person completing work in the engine room using cleaning products, which resulted in a significant “flash explosion.” This resulted in substantial burns to the person. The result was an impact on individual vessel owners and RQYS staff. This is a reminder to Members that if they have a contractor coming to work on their vessel, they must confirm that the business they are engaging is insured and qualified to complete the works. The process for any contractor working on either the squadron property or on a vessel at the marina requires them to report to reception to complete documentation and provide insurance that covers their work.
