Sailing at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron

With over 130 years of sailing history, The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron prides itself as one of Australia’s premier Yacht Clubs. Our range of affordable memberships have been designed to suit all lifestyles from full boat ownership & family needs through to active crewing and social options. The diverse nature of the Squadron is enshrined by the many ways that families, some third and fourth generations celebrate in the passion of sailing and life-long friendships. Whether you’re a keen young junior, an experienced sailor, or a lover of fine food, there is something for everyone at the Squadron.

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is the home of regattas for a number of classes and categories including Finn, Laser, Optimist, 29er, Hobie, Nacra, Etchell and VXOne and holds many regular sailing events throughout the year, including: 

Queensland Youth Week 

A junior and youth regatta held during winter with competitors travelling from all over Australia and New Zealand. Sail Brisbane A summer regatta for dinghy and board sailors of all ages across five courses and all classes. 

Brisbane Race Week 

5-days of diverse race formats in Southern Moreton Bay in May of each year. 

Brisbane Women’s Keelboat Cup 

Scheduled to coincide with International Women’s Day in March … and many more State, National & International championships. Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race Held annually in June and attracting a fleet of 20- 30 yachts racing north to Keppel Bay and feeding into the renowned Whitsunday Race Week and other Northern events. 

Longstanding events such as the Goodwill Cup, Myora Cup, Canaipa Cup and many more – all with rich Squadron heritage behind them – give the opportunity to compete close to home in our local waters.
