This morning, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced a 3-day lockdown for Greater Brisbane effective 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, Monday 29 March 2021. Greater Brisbane includes the Local Government Areas of Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Redlands, and Moreton Bay.

This lockdown comes in response to Queensland recording another four cases of community transmission of the UK strain of COVID-19.

Persons in these areas must stay home, only leaving the house for one of the specified reasons, which include:

  • to buy essentials like groceries or medications;
  • to work or study, if unable to do either from home;
  • to exercise; or
  • to provide help, care, or support.

Mandatory mask wearing is now in effect for the entirety of Queensland – please wear a mask at all times when outside your home. It is a requirement to wear a mask when travelling to and from the Club, as well as whilst remaining on Squadron grounds.

The Government has determined that no gatherings are to be allowed on any premises, this includes the RQYS premises. Members are not to congregate for any reason around the Club over the next three days.

We also ask members to remember to social distance whenever possible, and practice good hygiene by frequently washing your hands.

And lastly, if you have any cold or flu symptoms at all – PLEASE GET TESTED.

SAILING

Sporting can still be conducted for exercise, this includes sailing. However, there are restrictions on who and how many people you can exercise with. Exercise must be done either:

Organised racing and other sailing activities including WAGS and any Sailing Academy courses are postponed while the lockdown is in effect.
