2024 saw a meteoric shower of achievements, awards and acclaim — nationally and internationally — for our up-and-coming young sailors and foilers, on waters from Waterloo Bay on Brisbane’s Bayside to Warnemünde on the Baltic Sea coast of Germany, to the Mediterranean and more: shining aspirations for 2032 here at home! Greg Kemp begins by taking a ‘crow’s nest view’ to outline key Squadron sporting highlights in 2024, writing that our sailing Members had a sterling year competing at home and overseas in a multitude of classes. Built on the back of a strong coaching and racing program at the Squadron, we have had near-record numbers of Members competing at National and International regattas from Youth to Senior levels. It started in January when our ILCA sailors dominated the results, helping to take out the prestigious Batten Trophy for best performing state team for the first time on record. These Nationals results were followed during the year with wins in the: ILCA Masters Worlds (1st Master) and the Australian and Oceania Masters (1st in all categories!).
