The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron has a proud tradition of developing sailors and offering opportunities to adults whatever their prior experience, or extent of their ambitions – be it as a Championship hopeful or purely for fun and recreation.
The Squadron has continued to support this long-term commitment to the future of the sport with a focus to increase participation of adults – particularly women and families – and guide them along the Sailings Pathway to further develop their skills.
Dinghie Courses comprising our Start Sailing 1 & 2 course, is an introduction to the basics of sailing on double-handed dinghy, including boat handling, safety, sailing theory, and touches on other essential areas including weather, tides and other general safety procedures and rules.
Keelboat Courses providing a tiered course program that teaches you everything you need to know about Keelboat Sailing; begin your journey with Start Crewing & Helming which focuses more exclusively on the elements of helming and crewing to support your skill development then move onto Start Skippering which is designed to advance your sailing skills and safety knowledge to enable you to sail unsupervised in sheltered waters. Spinnakers and Start Racing courses are optional extras to extend your skills into more niche racing environments.
Windsurfing covers everything from sailing theory, wind awareness, board handling, rigging, launching and retrieving gear, self-rescue, plus all the basic sailing techniques required to progress a complete novice to a level where they can sail in and out and up and downwind confidently in up to 12 knots of wind
Stand-Up Paddle Boarding is perfect for during the week or over the weekend; Stand Up Paddle Board around Manly Harbour. SUP is the perfect way to work-out and experience the beautiful Moreton Bay up close and personal. Book your 1 or 2 hour session now!
Private Lessons cater to all ages and experience levels, and are perfect for those wanting to learn, re-learn, further-develop your sailing skills, or even do a sailing course at a time that suits you.
Social Sailing is a sailing program that anyone can book into. Sailing on the Elliott 6’s, the program is the perfect way for anyone and everyone experience beautiful Moreton Bay in a monohull sailing boat.
Social Racing is a program whereby participants race on Club Elliott 6s as a development initiative to facilitate the racing, participating and learning of aspiring sailors.
