Information on the Gear Truck heading up to Yeppoon from Manly, QLD, will be released shortly. The RQYS Sailing Office is happy to assist in putting local boats in contact with safety auditors. To speak with us, please email email@example.com or ring us on 07 3396 8666.
The 12th Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race will be the second offshore event run by RQYS in 2018, following the Brisbane to Noumea Ocean Cruising Rally which is run every three (3) years. Brisbane to Keppel will be a Safety Category 2 event, with an expected 40 yachts competing.
The divisions this year will include:
Short Handed IRC
Short Handed PHS
Short Handed Multihull PHS
This year the event will be run differently to previous years – the race will consist of eight (8) stages where yachts are scored for each stage, based on their elapsed time between the designated gates. This change will only be applied to the PHS (Performance Indicative) results. This new initiative promises to give yachts more opportunity to perform well, with 8 chances, rather than 1, to be successful in this event.
The live tracker will be available to watch for the duration of the event. The 2017 Club Marine Brisbane to Tropical Yacht Race was a huge success, with 35 entries, including American Yacht, Dorade, which travelled to Queensland, AUS, to participate.
