This program introduces vital skills that empower students to confidently and safely navigate a small boat under controlled conditions with reduced guidance. The Tackers program places a strong emphasis on an interactive learning experience through engaging games and activities. \nFind more information about our Dinghy Courses HERE. \nRQYS MEMBERS: Please contact the Sailing Academy for a discount code to receive a member’s discount. \nCourse Overview\nThis course aims to build on skills learned in Tackers 2 and focuses on advanced sailing skills through games and adventures on the water. \nCourse Prerequisites \n\nWater confident\n7-12 years-old\nSkills\, knowledge and experience gained in Tackers 2\n\nWho should do this course? \nThis course is designed for participants who have completed Tackers 2. \nCourse Outcome \nBy the end of the Tackers 3 course\, the participants will be able to: \n\nDemonstrate the correct method and understand the theory of roll tacking and gybing\nStopping the boat in a confined areas for a period of time\nSail backwards\nUnderstand the theory behind gybing and can demonstrate the action downwind\nShow a sound knowledge of the five essentials:\n\nCentreboard position\nBoat trim\nBoat balance\nCourse made good\nSail trim\n\n\nStart and finish races on a triangle and trapezoid course\nAlways use tactical mark roundings in races\n\nYou will gain your Tackers 3 completion certificate.
