This program introduces vital skills that empower students to confidently and safely navigate a small boat under controlled conditions with reduced guidance. The Tackers program places a strong emphasis on an interactive learning experience through engaging games and activities. \nFind more information about our Dinghy Courses HERE. \nRQYS MEMBERS: Please contact the Sailing Academy for a discount code to receive a member’s discount. \nCourse Overview\nThis course aims to build on the fun participants had in Tackers 1\, to progress their sailing skills. \nCourse Prerequisites \n\nWater confident\n7-12 years-old\nSkills\, knowledge and experience gained in Tackers 1.\n\nWho should do this course? \nThis course is designed for participants who have completed Tackers 1. \nCourse Outcome \nBy the end of the Tackers 2 course\, the participants will be able to: \n\nGet out of irons on their own\nSafely gybe the boat\nCorrectly use the tiller extension\nSailing around a triangle course\, including:\n\nUpwind – on a close hauled course tacking through the ‘no go zone’\nDownwind – with centreboard up\nReaching – correct sail position\n\n\nDemonstrate a 360 and 720-degree turn\n\nYou will gain your Tackers 2 completion certificate.
