At Tackers 1\, children team up in pairs and sail in small boats\, providing an excellent opportunity to forge new friendships while acquiring exciting new skills. The Tackers program places a strong emphasis on an interactive learning experience through engaging games and activities. \nFind more information about our Dinghy Courses HERE. \nRQYS MEMBERS: Please contact the Sailing Academy for a discount code to receive a member’s discount. \nCourse Overview\nThis course aims to provide children aged 7-12 with a fun\, safe and affordable way to get into sailing. \nCourse Prerequisites \n\nWater confident\n7-12 years-old\n\nWho should do this course? \nThis course is designed for participants who wish to have fun and learn the basics of sailing through games on and off the water. \nCourse Outcome \nBy the end of the Tackers 1 course\, the participants will be able to: \n\nSteer with tiller extension under towing paddling power\nTie a figure 8 knot\, round twice and two half hitches\nTack (push turn)\nGybe (pull turn)\nReach around a figure of 8 course using both tacking and gybing\nSail with tiller extension\nSail upwind and downwind by following the safety boat\n\nYou will gain your Tackers 1 completion certificate.
