Welcome aboard the excitement of RQYS Brisbane Race Week 2025! From May 2nd to May 7th, join us for five days of yachting fun set against the breathtaking backdrop of Moreton Bay. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or new to the sport, our diverse race formats, including the exhilarating “hot laps” around Green Island inspired by Formula 1 qualifying, promise an unforgettable experience for all sailors. Don’t miss your chance to test your skills, soak in the camaraderie of the sailing community, and sail towards victory at this premier event hosted by the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.

The diversity of race formats is the signature feature of Brisbane Race Week.

Day 1*

Friday afternoon’s racing takes its lead from Formula 1 qualifying with “hot laps” around Green Island. Competing yachts will have a three-hour window to complete as many laps as they can and can choose to circumnavigate the island in any direction. The fastest lap on elapsed and corrected time will decide the race winners.

Welcome drinks and presentations will be held at the Clubhouse following the days sailing.

Day 2 & 3*

Saturday and Sunday will up the ante with short races east of Green Island. The handcrafted courses will put crews to the test, utilising the recently installed recreational racing marks.

Saturday we’ll meet back at the Club house for Burgers, BBQ & presentations under the marquee. Sunday we’ve arrange a Long Table Dinner in the Bistro.

Day 4*

On Monday’s Labour Day public holiday, a long passage race will see yachts stretch their legs with Moreton Island and Brisbane City as idyllic backdrops.

After racing, Presentations and Drink will be held in the Bistro.

Day 5* – Lay Day

The lay day on Tuesday affords crews a day onshore to recover, catch up on work, or chill out at the yacht club and prepare their yachts for the grand finale on Wednesday

Day 6*

A pursuit style race ensuring the last race of the regatta will be a photo finish!

Final Day Presentations will be held at the Clubhouse over a few bevies!

*Format may be changed closer to the event date.
