Safety & Sea Survival
Overview:
The Safety & Sea Survival course was developed by Yachting Australia in response to a coronial inquest resulting from six deaths in the 1998 Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race. Conducted in both the classroom (14 hours) and in the water (3-4 hours) the course covers all aspects of safety and survival.
The topics covered include:
Preparation and Planning
- Duty of Care, Safety Planning, Emergency Planning, Safety Equipment
Offshore knowledge and experience
- Weather, Heavy weather strategies, Vessel Management
Emergencies
- Emergency communications, pyrotechnics, Vessel damage, Man Overboard, Fire, Abandonment, Search and Rescue
