The Summer Sailing Season commences in September and usually winds up the week before Easter. Off-the-Beach and Division Boat classes compete in the Summer Sailing Season as per the following:

Sailing doesn’t stop over winter at RQYS. Not only do we hold many regattas, we also have a winter Frostbite Series. Dates for the Frostbit Series are scheduled based on dates that are available, however we usually race once a month from May to August.

- Australian Midwinter Youth Championships (Off-the-Beach – part of Queensland Youth Week)
- ISAF Grade 2 Sail Brisbane (Off-the-Beach ISAF Classes)
RQYS also supports Team Sailing and is renowned for some for the best facilities for the dicipline with 21 RQ owner Pacers (3 fleets).
The Team Sailing regattas we host are:
- Term 1 School Team Sailing
- Term 4 School Team Sailing
- Queensland School Team Sailing Championship (on behalf of Yachting Queensland)
- Queensland Open Team Sailing Championship (on behalf of Yachting Queensland)
On top of all this, RQYS also hosts many major regattas including World Championships, Australian Championships and State Championships. We rarely have a weekend free!
RQYS has to ability of hosting up to four off-the-beach courses on Waterloo and Moreton Bay simultaneously. We have access to over 80 trained volunteers, including State, National and International Race Officers, as well as State, National and International Judges and Umpires.
