The RQYS Sailing Academy we offer a wide variety of both practical and theory based courses. From single person dinghies to 40 foot yachts, we’ve got all your training needs covered.

No matter what your age or level of experience, we can help increase your sailing knowledge and skills.

The RQYS Sailing Academy is a recognised Yachting Australian Training Center and is home to “Sail & Play”.

Junior Courses

Junior Sailing Program
7 to 14 year olds – get your kids sailing!

Opti Green Fleet
The Opti Green Fleet is a 4 week Introduction to Racing Program – follows Junior Sailing Program.

For Optimist sailors who own their own boats – training in the morning and racing in the afternoon!

Pacer Racer
12 to 18 year olds who want to go double handed racing. Perfect for team sailors and those who want to get into fleet racing.

Sail & Play
7 to 12 year olds who think sailing, raft building, island adventure, sailing science and navigation sounds like a load of fun.

Theory Courses

Marine Radio Operators License
Essential for anyone wanting to use a MF/HF or VHF radio

Safety and Sea Survival Course

Yachting Courses

Introduction to Yachting
Get a taste of yachting in this one day course!

Competent Crew Course
The perfect way to learn all the basics of yachting. This course involves staying on board the yacht… a qualification and holiday in one!

3 x Weekends or 1 x Week Monday to Friday

Day Skipper Course
With both a Theory and Practical element, the Day Skipper course is for students who have completed Competent Crew, or have prior sailing experience.
