Day Skipper Theory Course (RYA)

The Day Skipper theory course introduces the aspiring skipper to the wide range of subjects needed to take a cruising yacht to sea. These include - the construction, parts and equipment of a yacht, emergency and safety equipment and procedures (such as distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses and life jackets). This course gives students sufficient knowledge to undertake the RYA Day Skipper practical course. It is also ideal for anyone contemplating a bareboat charter holiday or considering buying their own boat.
Duration:
14 weekly lessons (Tuesday nights 1830-2130 hours)

Prerequisites:
Some practical experience is desired but not essential - Must be completed prior to enrolling into the RYA Day Skipper Practical Course

Day Skipper Practical Course (RYA)
Skippering a yacht for the first time can be a daunting yet exhilarating experience. The RYA Day Skippers practical course is designed to teach you to “take charge” safely and confidently. At the end of the course you will be confident to skipper a cruising yacht on short passages by day in sheltered waters. Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded the RYA Day Skipper Certificate. Courses are conducted on one of our comfortable 40 foot training yachts and the cost of the course includes meals and accommodation on board during the course. This certificate is recognised throughout the world and can lead to a professional qualification.

3 weekends or 5 days (Monday to Friday)
