Cruising in company is a fantastic way to meet like minded people whilst exploring our waterways. The Power Boat Cruising Group regularly travels to many beautiful destinations around Moreton Bay & beyond. Cruise events are organized for most months throughout the year and are fun for the whole family. With over 70 members with power boats ranging in size from 22 foot to over 50 foot and cruising speeds of 6 to 26 knots, it’s not the speed or size that matters, it’s the company.

History

Formed due to a growing demand by couples and families taking up power boating and looking to cruise in company, the Power Boat Cruising Group has grown from 6 members in 2003 to over 70 members in 2010. We are recognised as a major interest group within RQYS and are well supported.

Events

The Group frequently organises cruise events to destinations everywhere from Bribie Island to the Gold Coast. A Cruise event is organised for most months of the year and are fun for the whole family. Some past events have also included extended coastal trips to Grafton, the Great Sandy Straits and beyond. Cruises range from 2 day local events to 2 week extended cruises and you may join in for part or all of any of these events.

• Forge new friendships in a relaxed social atmosphere
• Explore and gain knowledge of our beautiful waterways
• Encourage member participation in Squadron activities & events

Membership

Power Boat Cruising Group membership is free and exclusive to full boating members of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. The Group is always looking for new members and I would encourage any RQYS members, new or old, looking to expand their boating and social horizons, to join the Power Boat Cruising Group.
